Vacation to Virginia: Day 1

Our vacation to Virginia was amazing. It began on Jun. 20, 2008 at 4am when we headed for Atlanta, Ga. During our drive to Atlanta, we took a detour along the Mississippi Coast to see some of the remaining devastation from Katrina. It was sad to see that much of the beach was still being reconstructed, several of the homes and businesses were still boarded up, and many of the trees were missing their tops. After getting back on our original route to Ga., we stopped at Dreamland BBQ in Montgomery, Al. based on Rosalind's recommendation. The BBQ and sides were just as good as she had said. The BBQ sauce was more vinegar based than we're used which was exactly what we had wanted because it was a flavor we were not used to eating. We will definitely try it again next time we travel through Alabama.

Our day ended around 11:30 p.m. when we finally arrived at the LaQuinta Inn in Norcross, Ga. (just outside Atlanta).
